Photo of the Week
Each week we will post an image taken by one of our walkers of a scene they spotted on a walk. Generally these images should not include photos of any walkers. Please send any images to info@cpcw.co.nz noting photo of the week in the subject line.

A Word from...
Wayne and I returned on Friday from our reconnaissance trip to Europe, researching walking tracks in Madeira, Spain and Switzerland on behalf of CPCW. There will be no written report, however anyone who walks with us in the next few weeks will be subject to an effusive and lengthy verbal report.
I am incredibly grateful to Bill who so willingly, once again, took over responsibility for the walking group while I was away, especially as this is in addition to the considerable amount of work he does each week producing our newsletter.
It was lovely to arrive home to such lovely spring weather. Hopefully winter is now behind us and we can look forward to some kinder walking conditions in the coming weeks.

Walk Details for Wednesday September 16th
This Week’s Walks:
Still staying close to home with all three walks based in Khandallah. The PP have an old walk last done in June 2025. The SS and FF have new walks but, as noted on their descriptions, they do use some of the same roads that we have walked before. The walks start from the Nairnville Park carpark at 9:20am. Parking may have to extend to nearby streets.
PP Walk: A 4.07km loop walk that includes a little bit of bush track with the rest on footpaths. No major hills. You can see the walk here.
SS Walk: A 6.38km walk that is a new route with parts around some of the same streets that we have walked before. There are only downhill steps and minor rises. You can see the walk here.
FF Walk: A 7.44km loop walk. The walk is a new route, but does use many of the streets we have walked before. You can see the walk on Mapometer here and on Plotaroute here.
Parking: Parking for all three groups is in the Nairnville Park carpark and the adjoining streets.
Coffee: Nothing booked so walkers can share themselves between Thyme and Simmer at home and other cafés in Khandallah, Ngaio and Johnsonville.

Walking for the Week of September 7th 2026:
Spring brought us a brilliant morning for Wednesday’s walks which headed out from Seton Nossiter Park into Paparangi and Newlands. Once again we had a good turnout of walkers – 56 across the three groups. Thursday evening was wet – and it was only Christine who was brave enough to head out on a walk in Churton Park. Friday’s walk, curated by Jane, took in an 11km loop within Belmont Regional Park which included the obligatory ascent to the trig. There were 13 walkers in one group this week – the ‘blue’ sky in the photos belies the strength of the wind (and the wind chill!!).
Please try and remember to take a group photo and send it to info@cpcw.co.nz. Don’t worry about the size of the image – a good quality image at the outset will still look good when reduced in size for the newsletter, but a lower quality image may end up blurry in the newsletter.
