Photo of the Week
Each week we will post an image taken by one of our walkers of a scene they spotted on a walk. Generally these images should not include photos of any walkers. Please send any images to info@cpcw.co.nz noting photo of the week in the subject line.
Our banner image this week comes from Wendy Bentley. It was taken on the Friday walk on the track alongside the Korokoro Stream heading down to Cornish Street, Petone. There was little sharing of the track required that morning – no mad dogs or Englishmen were seen, just bonkers CPCW walkers!
A Word from...
A week in which, despite the very frosty mornings in the early part of the week and a bit of rain and wind at the other end of the week, all walks went ahead. The days are starting to lengthen, spring flowers seem to have been blooming in small numbers for some weeks, magnolia are magnificent and more and more rhododendron are showing their true colours.
On our Wednesday walks the PP group was only just pipped in numbers by the SS – and they certainly out-numbered the FF group. Keep it up!
Looking as stunning as the spring flowers are the CPCW members who attended the Anniversary Dinner last weekend. Take a look – Anniversary Dinner Photos. Thanks, once again, to Mike for his photography and to Keith for his time uploading the photos to the website.
A reminder: Friday Drinks at the Johnsonville Club – Friday August 7th @ 5.00pm

This Week’s Walks:
Plimmerton walks are popular and this is the location for all three of our walks this coming Wednesday. The walks will start from the car parking area adjacent to Palmers Garden Centre, Plimmerton, at 9:20am.
PP Walk: A 4.01km, generally flat, walk taking in some of the coastline. You can see the walk here.
SS Walk: A 5.77km walk that does take in a bit of the coast and then some quite undulating residential streets. You can see the walk here.
FF Walk: A 7.84km walk which includes a rural roadway with a return using a rural right of way. Definitely a bit of hill work is included. You can see the walk on Mapometer here and on Plotaroute here.
Parking: Parking for all three groups is in the open space that is alongside the Palmers carpark (off Ulric Street, Plimmerton). Please DO NOT park in the actual Palmers carpark.
Coffee: Palmers has “Backyard Café” and there are a couple of other cafés in Steyn Avenue, Plimmerton. Nothing has been booked.
Happy walking.
Russell Paterson

Walking for the Week of July 27th 2026:
On a chilly Wednesday morning a surprisingly large number of walkers met up in Linden and walked off in three different directions around Linden, Tawa and Kenepuru. Numbers were down for Thursday’s walk – it was Christine on her own and she walked 6.1km of the Churton Park streets. Friday was a surprisingly pleasant morning for the 13 walkers and Red who were led by Gary, in two groups, up into the hills and bush of Maungaraki and Korokoro over 12+km.
Please try and remember to take a group photo and send it to info@cpcw.co.nz. Don’t worry about the size of the image – a good quality image at the outset will still look good when reduced in size for the newsletter, but a lower quality image may end up blurry in the newsletter.
