Photo of the Week
Each week we will post an image taken by one of our walkers of a scene they spotted on a walk. Generally these images should not include photos of any walkers. Please send any images to info@cpcw.co.nz noting photo of the week in the subject line.
This week’s banner image was taken by Mike Hannah on Wednesday’s walk. Taken on Motuhara Road, this view looks south over the Plimmerton Fire Station and across the entrance of Porirua Harbour.
A Word from...
Wednesday’s weather was kind to us and encouraged a good turnout of walkers – 21 PP, 25 SS and 18 FF. All walkers enjoyed various routes around Plimmerton, finishing with coffee at the Backyard Café. On Thursday, Christine led five other walkers and Red on a 5.3km walk around Johnsonville on a blustery evening. Unfortunately, Clint had to make the (correct) call and cancel Friday’s walk due to the weather. A good number of CPCW members turned up at the Johnsonville Club on Friday evening for drinks and a meal.
For those of you being suitably honoured on Father’s Day, enjoy your day. Some of us are feted in different ways. My daughter returned from a recent trip to Christchurch where she found my gift in the wonderful Scorpio Books – a book titled “There are Dads Way Worse Than You: unimpeachable evidence of your excellence as a father.” Apparently I am not as bad as Thanos, Darth Vader or Walter White from “Breaking Bad”!! It is a worry when your offspring proves to have inherited your dire sense of humour!
And a final reminder: Don’t forget to log in and check your details if you have not already done so. You should have received an email from Keith a couple of weeks ago.

Kāpiti Island Trip
Brian Alderson has advised:
“The Kāpiti Island trip is on hold pending further discussions. Contrary to what I was initially told, Kāpiti Tours are instigating a change of price to $149 pp which is unacceptable.”
Walk Details for Wednesday September 9th
This Week’s Walks:
Keeping closer to home this week with all three walks starting at the parking area of Seton Nossiter Park in Paparangi. The walks start from the carpark at 9:20am.
PP Walk: A 3.67km loop heading generally uphill on a reasonably good condition bush track leading to the residential roads which take walkers back to the start point. You can see the walk here.
SS Walk: A 6.01km walk that heads slightly uphill via two consecutive good condition bush tracks and returns by road, then another bush track and a repeat of a short section of the already walked bush track. You can see the walk here.
FF Walk: A 7.55km loop walk that heads uphill by streets and returns by two downhill bush tracks. You can see the walk on Mapometer here and on Plotaroute here.
Parking: Parking for all three groups is in the Seton Nossiter Carpark that is off Mark Avenue with additional car parking street-side on Mark Avenue. (It is a wide road ideal for the additional parking that will probably be required.)
Coffee: Nothing booked so walkers can share themselves between Thyme and Simmer etc.
Happy walking.
Russell Paterson
Walk Schedules: You can look at the walk schedule for September 2026 here.
Reminder: Please ensure that you inform your group’s leader if you leave a walk partway through.
Cancellations: If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Walking for the Week of August 31st 2026:
Wednesday’s walkers enjoyed stepping out in and around Plimmerton; Thursday’s group walked around Johnsonville; and Friday’s group stayed in bed and caught up on their online puzzles.
Please try and remember to take a group photo and send it to info@cpcw.co.nz. Don’t worry about the size of the image – a good quality image at the outset will still look good when reduced in size for the newsletter, but a lower quality image may end up blurry in the newsletter.
