Photo of the Week
Each week we will post an image taken by one of our walkers of a scene they spotted on a walk. Generally these images should not include photos of any walkers. Please send any images to info@cpcw.co.nz noting photo of the week in the subject line.
This week’s image comes from Sue Fish and shows the iconic Titahi Bay boat sheds as seen on Wednesday’s walk. (Ed: A number of equally great photos were submitted this week; some will be featured as the banner image in coming weeks. Please keep your photos rolling in.)
A Word from...
You can’t beat Wellington on a good day and three good days in a row saw walkers out and about in Titahi Bay, Churton Park and Mount Victoria, enjoying exercise and the scenery in crisp autumn weather.
We are grateful to our sponsors, whose support and generosity allows the walking group to function without the need of subs. Bill usually features one of our sponsors in alternate newsletters, but this week you will find a notice from Daisy Jake asking for volunteers. I’m hopeful that a few walkers will take advantage of the opportunity. If you do, ‘before and after’ photos for the newsletter would be interesting, but certainly not compulsory!

Our Sponsors
CPCW are very grateful for the support of our generous sponsors. Here is our chance to give back to one of them:
Daisy Jake Hairdressing in Churton Park is currently seeking short haircut models to support their team’s training and development. If you’ve been thinking about a change or are open to a refresh, this could be a great opportunity. The cut-and-blow wave service is offered at a heavily reduced price, may take a little longer than usual, and is carried out with care, attention, and professional supervision. To find out more or express interest, please contact the salon directly – Kerri Cox 044772213

Walk Details for Wednesday May 6th
This Week’s Walks:
All walks are local and use the streets and tracks of Churton Park. The PP only have one climb of note, the other walks are, of course, up and down with all walks based in Churton Park. All three walks are new, but use streets that most of us have walked before, perhaps not in the order that the walks list. The walks will start at 9:20am.
PP: A 3.75km loop walk. Starts with a hill, the rest only includes gentle rises. You can see the walk here.
SS: A 6.40km loop that uses the local streets and tracks and so there is quite a bit of up and down. You can see the walk here.
FF: A 7.76km loop that also uses the local streets and tracks and, yes, there are a few ups and downs. You can see the walk on Mapometer here and on Plotaroute here.
Parking: Parking for all three groups is in the New World carpark, but please keep to the outer areas away from the supermarket entry and leave the closer areas for the shoppers.
Coffee: We have told Simmer that some of us will be arriving for a coffee so they probably will leave us some room outside. Others can help spread the load and head to Thyme if they want.
Happy walking.
Russell Paterson
Walk Schedules: You can look at the walk schedule for May 2026 here.
Reminder: Please ensure that you inform your group’s leader if you leave a walk partway through.
Cancellations: If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Walking for the Week of March 2nd 2026:
As David has said, it was a great week for walking. The following photos are from Titahi Bay on Wednesday; Churton Park on Thursday; and the Friday walk, shepherded by Keith, and covering aspects of Mt Victoria and the ridge leading along to Constable Street in Newtown. It was a stunning Wellington day and the walk provided windows on multiple Wellington suburbs.
Please try and remember to take a group photo and send it to info@cpcw.co.nz
