Each week we will post an image taken by one of our walkers of a scene they spotted on a walk. Generally these images should not include photos of any walkers. Please send any images to info@cpcw.co.nz noting photo of the week in the subject line.
This week’s photo was taken by Hue Ng on Wednesday’s walk and shows the view down towards Kaiwharawhara from the Old Porirua Road.
A word from...
For two weeks in a row the Wellington spring weather has allowed all three walks to proceed. The weather forecast on Wednesday was for a cold and damp morning on the Kapiti Coast and so the picnic was cancelled and the walk rescheduled to Khandallah. There was a great turnout of walkers who enjoyed the Wellington spring sunshine on some impromptu walks. Eight Thursday walkers completed a 5.7km loop in Trelissick Park and Ngaio on a windy, but fine, evening. The sun shone again on 19 Friday walkers as they tackled 14 local kilometres.

The absolute deadline for booking and paying is Saturday 22 November. Booking your place now is strongly advised, especially if you want to travel on the bus, as seats are filling up very fast. Lunch and bus details, and information about how to pay, can be found by clicking here.
Reminder II – Christmas Lunch, Wednesday 3 December
Although many of the group are away down south, drinks will be held, as normal, at the Johnsonville Club this coming Friday – November 7th

Walk details for Wednesday November 5th
This Week’s Walks: With over 30 walkers away down South it was decided to keep things simple. All walks are local with all three walks being completely within Churton Park utilising the walkways, tracks and streets. The walks will start from the New World Carpark at 9.20am.
PPs: A 3.28km loop that has only relatively gentle rises. You can see the walk here.
SSs: A 6.20km loop that is a little bit undulating. You can see the walk here.
FFs: A 7.54km loop walk that takes in a couple of hills. You can see the walk on Mapometer here and Plotaroute here.
Parking: To have the least impact on the parking that is provided for shoppers, walkers should park away from the supermarket and other shop entrances.
Coffee: With reduced numbers we believe that Simmer and Thyme can readily cope with those that stay on after the walk for a coffee without these cafés being forewarned.
Happy walking.
Russell Paterson
Walk Schedules: You can look at the walk schedule for November 2025 here.
Reminder: Please ensure that you inform your group’s leader if you leave a walk partway through.
Cancellations: If the walks are cancelled an email will be sent out as early as possible but definitely before 8:00am.

Wednesday Walkers
The fickle spring weather threw plans for a walk in QEII park with a picnic out of the window. But the substituted walks, heading out and about in Khandallah and Ngaio, were executed in brilliant sunshine.
SSs: Thank you to John Holloway for the photo of the first group of SSs.
FFs: Photos of the FFs are courtesy of Hue Ng.
Thursday Walkers
Gillian Mills has kindly provided the photos of the Thursday walkers who escaped the wind by walking in Ngaio and Trellisick Park. Would have been good to have a photo after they had taken their dip in the stream!!
Friday Walkers
The Friday walkers kept on relatively “safe” territory this week and walked around Churton Park and Johnsonville, though the walk did include a partial ascent of Mt Kaukau. It was with relief that all walkers arrived back at Simmer for coffee with limbs and other bits intact ready to face the “Away Walk” next week! The first and last photos, taken by Bill Gaudie and Wendy Bentley, show that unbeatable “Wellington on a good day”. At last, it felt like spring. Bill’s photo of the second group of walkers shows them arrayed like a group of school children – much the best behaved FFs you have ever seen! Thank you to Alison Lavin for the spooky photograph!
